Bread of Life Food Pantry • Clanton, Alabama

We are excited to announce that our Chilton Bread of Life Food Pantry IS ABOUT TO REOPEN!

Please read through this post carefully as we must make some changes to make this work.

First of all, please bear in mind that with over 800 families coming to the food pantry each month, we must stagger the times when people can come in order to serve everyone.

We will begin the first 6 weeks by assigning dates according to the first letter of the last name. (I will put that at the bottom of the post. )

Secondly, we have a new location. It will be at the back of the Clanton Church of Christ on Lay Dam Road (across from Cornerstone Gym). Watch for the signs of which side to enter and exit. You will not need to park. Just stay in your car.

3. We will open at 3:30 Please do not come before 3:15 to begin lining up as we are trying to work out this transition. We will not have available parking for people to sit and wait. Also, please stay in your car, as we will do mobile sign in ( at a tent) then proceed to the area for food delivery. There wil be workers to guide you We are using all available parking at the church to create a functional loading line.

4. In accordance with the Montgomery Food Bank, we will have to re-register all clients. We will come to your car to do this.

5. Regarding our Proxy system (picking food up for someone else). Just as in the beginning, clients may give authority for someone else to pick up for them. However, they must (again) come the first time to complete their registration.

Due to our smaller warehouse facility at this location, only 2 boxes may be picked up by one person. This could be for yourself and one other, or you picking up for 2 other people. We cannot make exceptions at this time.

APRIL 3 : Clients with last names beginning with A or C ( no B )

APRIL 10: Clients with last name beginning with letters, B, D, E, F

APRIL 17: Clients with last name beginning with K, L, N, O, P, Q ( no M)

APRIL 24: Clients with last name beginning with I, J, Mc, M,T

MAY 1: Clients with last name beginning with G, H, W,X,Y,Z

MAY 8: Clients with last name beginning with R, S, U, V

* We realize this alphabet division may seem odd, but it is based on the number of clients we have beginning with those letters. We are trying to keep about the same number of clients each week so we can better prepare for the number expected each week.

  • Clanton Career Center will be at the Chilton County DHR office every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month.  Looking for a job?  Need help with a resume?  Trying to go to school?  Ready to learn a trade?  We can help with all of that!  Looking for employees?  Need assistance with job advertising?  Looking for candidate pre-screening?  We can help with that too!  No appointment necessary.  Walk-ins welcome!  All services provided at no cost!
  • Alabama Lions Sight Mobile Eye Clinic will be at the Chilton County Health Department on April 10, 2025.  ALS provides eye exams on people of all ages who would benefit.  We examine for: The need for glasses, diseases or anomalies (such as cataracts, glaucoma, etc), diseases or anomalies of the body (such as diabetes, hypertension, etc), and any other condition affecting the eye or visioin.  We provide glasses for everyone who needs them, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.  To schedule an exam call 205-755-3980.
  • The Nurse Aide Academy of Clanton can help you on your journey to become a CNA (certified nursing assistant).  Our class is 10 days in length, and Tuition is free of charge for individuals living 30 miles or less from the school.  Call Terri at 205 602-6265 for more information or to set up a time to come in and do your paperwork.
  • KELSEY’S PLACE – (205-299-5384) 950 Lumac Road, Clanton, AL – offers free GED prep classes, GED testing, tutoring, resume writing and other services as needed. The only fees associated with services are fees charged by GED.com and GED testing. Kelsey’s Place is open Monday – Friday by appointment.  Kelsey’s Place also offers free ASVAB study and test prep class.  Anyone interested in signing up may call us at 205-299-5384 or email us at info@kelseysplace.org to get registered.
